Dr. Elmar Beeh, DLR
Dr. Elmar Beeh heads the “Material and Process Application Complete Vehicle” department at the DLR Institute for Vehicle Concepts in Stuttgart. He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Karlsruhe and received his doctorate in 2014 from the University of Stuttgart on the subject of “Development of a novel, crash-adaptive front end structure for vehicles with alternative drive variants”. In July 2021, Dr. Beeh elected to the Board of Directors of the International Magnesium Association (IMA). Since November 2021 he has headed the newly established Sustainability Committee for IMA.
Ilhan Goknel, Mining Engineer MSc
Mining Engineer, MSc. with >35 years of experience in mine development and beneficiation of industrial minerals and metallic mines. Various roles incl. project manager of first primary magnesium plant in Turkey in 2010 and later plant director until 2017.
Mr. Dong Chunming , GM of Sunlight Metal Consulting (Beijing) Co.,Ltd.
Mr. Dong has been working in the Nonferrous metal industry for 36 years and is an expert in the magnesium and aluminum industry and market research. He founded Sunlight Metal Consulting in 2006 to provide Consulting and information services on magnesium and aluminum. Mr. Dong is currently the executive director of Chinese Committee for Magnesium and its Application (CCMA) .He runs the magnesium website and wechat media, the most influential information platform in China’s magnesium Industrial chain. He served as deputy secretary-general of the China Magnesium Association from 1997 to 2007.
Vladimir Kotlovsky , Chief Technologist – DSM

Vladimir Kotlovsky is the Chief Technologist at Dead Sea Magnesium, bringing over 28 years of extensive experience in the magnesium industry. With a strong background in materials engineering and a Master’s degree in the field, Vladimir has played a pivotal role in the electrolytic manufacturing of magnesium metal, overseeing all production stages and ensuring process efficiency. As a seasoned professional, Vladimir has successfully managed manufacturing operations, research and development initiatives, regulatory and environmental department. Notably, he has led site-wide efficiency projects, fostering collaboration with potash and chlorine facilities to optimize synergies and enhance overall productivity. Vladimir is recognized for his expertise in energy-saving and efficiency projects, having undertaken various responsibilities for life-cycle assessments and carbon footprint evaluations. Currently, he leads a site-wide energy savings team, driving ambitious key performance indicators, and actively contributes as a member of a 1-million-tonnes CO2 Decarbonization project. With a passion for sustainable practices and a deep understanding of the intricate nuances of the magnesium industry, Vladimir Kotlovsky is dedicated to implementing innovative solutions that reduce environmental impact while maximizing operational efficiency.
Mohamed Abdelaziz, MBA, PMP – Project Manager, Magnesium Development
Mohamed leads the Magnesium development project as a part of ENOWA desalination brine processing complex. He has more than 15 years of experience in the development of major infrastructure projects.
