Until July\, Brendan served as Director for China Economics at the National Security Council\, where he was responsible for coordinating U.S. government economic\, technology\, and engagement policy towards China. Brendan’s previous Defense Department posts include China Country Director in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. He has also served as Treasure Department Attache in Beijing\, and Acting Head of International Relations and Country Risk at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. He will be returning to the Federal Reserve in 2025\, and we are fortunate to have the benefit of his insights at this crucial transition. \nPlease note that Brendan’s speech and the Q & A are strictly conducted under the Chatham House Rule\, and while content may be shared afterwards\, nothing said during the event may be repeated for attribution outside those in attendance.
