London Chemicals & Resources Limited (LCR) is an international distributor, stockist, and supplier of industrial inorganic chemicals as well as being a niche recycler. Many of the chemicals we produce ourselves using recycled spent catalysts (coming from the oil and gas industries) and other secondaries which we also source globally. LCR serves a global customer base and holds several agencies for top-quality products. We prioritise efficient service, competitive pricing, and maintaining strong relationships with our customers.

We work closely with producer principals to ensure the highest standards of quality, consistency and reliability. Our chemicals are supplied for various industries, including battery, catalyst, ceramic, fertilizer, glass, plating, refinery and superalloys. We have our own processing plants and offer customised recycling solutions for spent catalysts and other metal-containing secondaries, aiming to provide environmentally sound management.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role as an Assistant Trader working in the Secondaries department at LCR in Westerham, UK. The Assistant will be responsible for supporting the trading team with the aim of becoming a trader in the future. Day-to-day tasks include helping sourcing spent catalysts and other metal containing secondaries, negotiating contracts, P&L calculations, coordinating shipments and ensuring timely deliveries. The Assistant will also track market trends and collaborate with other teams within the organisation both in the UK and abroad.

Qualifications

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Previous experience working for international catalyst manufacturer in technical sales would be major advantage
  • Logistics knowledge involving container freight and understanding of Incoterms would also be major advantage
  • Experience in procurement and/or sales
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines working as part of a small team
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of inorganic chemicals or metals such as; cobalt, copper, molybdenum, nickel, tungsten vanadium and zinc, would be an advantage
  • Degree or certification in chemistry, metallurgy, business, finance, or other related field would be an advantage
  • Fluency in another language could be useful
