The VDM (Association of German Metal Traders) – founded 1907 – is a modern service federation which, as the federal association of the Non-Ferrous Metal Wholesale and Recyling Traders, offers an extensive range of services to more than 135 member companies. The VDM is a member of the Federal Association of German Wholesale and Foreign Trade (BGA); the Bureau of international Recycling (BIR), the worldwide body representing the overall recycling industry; and the European Metal Trade and Recycling Foundation (EUROMETREC), which represents the interest of the national sectors at the Commission of the European Communities in Brussels.

Main activities:

Lobbying in Berlin, Bonn and Brussels; information about LME in London; weekly price bulletins; training on materials science, exchanges, recycling technologies etc; meetings of Metal Traders; individual advice on special topics; assistance with preparation for certification; arbitration board and proceedings.
