- Producer
KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. extracts and processes natural resources and has been building the position of a leader in copper and silver production for over 50 years. Copper deposits in Poland – one of the biggest in the world – are exploited by three underground mines: \”Lubin”, \”Polkowice-Sieroszowice” and \”Rudna”. The extracted material is enriched in the Concentrator Plant, while the production of copper, silver and other KGHM products takes place at the \”Głogów\” and \”Legnica\” smelters, and the \”Cedynia\” rolling mill.
On the other side of the ocean, KGHM owns six mines including world class Sierra Gorda mine in Chile. Apart from copper, these mines also produce molybdenum, nickel, gold, palladium and platinum.
Through further development of existing plants as well as new projects KGHM plans to join the biggest multi-resource companies in the world.
KGHM ranks among the world\’s biggest producers of silver and copper and is 3rd largest producer of rhenium. It is also the only company in Europe producing ammonium perrhenate (APR , catalytic grade ) and rhenium (pellets and powder) from its own resources. Rhenium produced by KGHM is a by-product in the production of copper. High quality of KGHM\’s metallic rhenium and APR is guaranteed by certificates of worldwide recognized laboratories and its stability by KGHM\’s ownership of its permanent source – own copper deposits containing this precious element.
